We who laugh…last

Laughter Yoga is such a joy filled wellbeing workout. A simple concept that was founded by Dr Madan Kataria in India in 1995, LY is now practiced in over 60 countries. Merv Neil is the driving force of Laughter Yoga Australia and was my Laughter Yoga Leader instructor…laughter really was his best medicine.

Laughter Yoga combines unconditional laughter with yogic breathing (PRANAYAMA). Anyone can laugh for no reason, without relying on humor, jokes or comedy. Laughter is simulated as a body exercise in a group, but with eye contact and childlike playfulness, it soon turns into real and contagious laughter.

The concept of Laughter Yoga is based on a scientific fact that the body cannot differentiate between fake and real laughter. You get the same physiological and psychological benefits.

Laughter yoga gives you a wonderful feeling of release as your sense of pain, sadness, anger or frustrations are expelled with each laugh. At the end of a laughter class you may feel lighter, invigorated, joyful, more at ease in your body & breath. You may also feel your face, lungs and tummy have had a bit of a workout.

Yes, it’s suitable for everyone…No, there are no ‘typical’ yoga exercises or poses. The classes are very relaxed and children are welcome to join us… they are truly inspiring!

It is a wonderful opportunity to rediscover your natural laugh in a world that hushes you all too often.
